eduroam is the primary WiFi network for the UC Berkeley campus community. In order to connect to eduroam individuals must create a key, or password, that will be used in place of their normal CalNet passphrase.

Accessing the WiFi Key tab in the Berkeley Portal

  1. Navigate to the Berkeley Portal My People Card Wi-Fi tab https://portal.berkeley.edu/people/wifi_access

  2. You may be redirected to the CalNet authentication portal, if so log in using the account you want for wireless access and you will see the Berkeley Regional Portal home page


  3.  On this page you will see if you have an eduroam account or any Berkeley-IoT devices (Berkeley-IoT is in early testing and may not be available to all users or in all areas). From this page you can enter the account management screen by clicking Create account or Manage account (depending on whether you have an account already or not)


  4. NOTE: eduroam and Berkeley-IoT accounts can have a status of Active or Blocked. Active is a working account. If your account shows as blocked please contact the Information Security group for information on how to have it enabled

 

Creating a WiFi Account

  1. Browse to the WiFi Keys tab of the Berkeley Portal https://portal.berkeley.edu/people/wifi_access

  2. Each CalNet ID is only allowed one eduroam account. Click Create account to open the eduroam account page. If an account is already listed you can click Make changes to reset the password or delete it.

  3. You will see the empty account list, click Create New to create your account

  4. The system will display your eduroam username and password. You can click Regenerate Password if you would like to see a different password. Once you've clicked Regenerate Password you can't go back to a previous password and you are not allowed to enter your own password
     
  5. Store your username and password in a safe place and click Save Account

  6. Your eduroam account has been created and can be used immediately
    • This is the last time you will be able to see your password
    • Be sure you store your username and password somewhere secure (such as with LastPass Premium, which is free to faculty, staff, and students)

  7. Select I have stored my password securely and then click Continue to be returned to the WiFi Accounts list

  8. Click Go back to WiFi Key Management to return to My People Card

 

Changing your WiFi Password

  1. Browse to the WiFi Keys tab of the Berkeley Portal https://portal.berkeley.edu/people/wifi_access to see your WiFi account list

  2. If your account is listed as Blocked your WiFi account has been suspended.  Please contact the Information Security group for information about your account. Blocked accounts cannot be reset or deleted

  3. Click Manage account to open the eduroam account page

  4. If the system reports your account is Blocked please follow the link to the Information Security page for additional information, you will not be able to modify any devices until the lock is removed

  5. Click the Change Password button and a new password will be displayed

  6. You can click Regenerate Password if you would like to see a different option.  You can't go back to a previous password or enter your own

  7. When you are happy with your password click Save New Password and the system will update your account


  8. You will see the account updated page with your new password
    • This is the last time you will be able to see your password
    • Be sure you store your username and password somewhere secure (such as with LastPass Premium, which is free to faculty, staff, and students)

  9. Select I have stored my password securely and then click Continue to be returned to the eduroam account page

 

Deleting a WiFi Account

  1. Browse to the WiFi Keys tab of the Berkeley Portal https://portal.berkeley.edu/people/wifi_access to see your WiFi account list

  2. If your account is listed as Blocked your WiFi account has been suspended.  Please contact the Information Security group for information about your account. Blocked accounts cannot be reset or deleted

  3. Click Make Changes to open the WiFi Account management page

  4. Click the Delete button to delete your device

  5. You will be see the confirmation window. Clicking Delete will remove your account from the system. Clicking Cancel will stop the account deletion

  6. You will be returned to the WiFi Accounts list
