bConnected On-Premise (bCOP) is an on-premise SMTP server that replaces the CalMail SMTP server as part of the Email Simplification Program. Campus applications, systems, or devices that need to use bCOP must be able to use an authenticated connection*, and meet at least one of the following minimum requirements:
- Account sends more than 2,000 individual messages per day (exceeding Google's current sending limits);
- Needs the ability to send from multiple user addresses;
- Uses private IP (RFC-1918) network connection

Campus applications, systems, or devices that do not meet the minimum requirements for bCOP should use Gmail SMTP. See: How to Configure the SMTP Settings to send mail from a printer, scanner, or app, or submit a support request to bConnected@berkeley.edu for assistance.
*A Minimum Security Standards Exception is required to relay mail unauthenticated via bCOP.
