Before you begin
- Create your AirBears2 Key
- If you have not yet created an AirBears2 key, navigate to Manage My Keys and follow the prompts.

- Note that AirBears & AirBears2 coverage is only available at UC Berkeley Campus locations & in student dorms.
- AirBears2 will appear in the Available Networks field if available.
- If you are unable to connect to the AirBears2 network, see Troubleshooting Tips at the bottom of this article.

To configure your computer for AirBears2 access
- Right-click the Wireless Network icon in the taskbar.
- Select View Available Wireless Networks.
- In the left column under Related Tasks, click Change the order of preferred networks.
- The Wireless Network Connection Properties window will open to the Wireless Networks tab.
- Depending on if the netowrk is visible:
- Select AirBears2 and click on the Properties button.
- If it isn't visible, click the Add... button located under Preferred Networks.
- Enter the Network Settings as follows:
- Network Authetnication: WPA2
- Network name (SSID): AirBears2
- Data encryption: AES
- Click on the Authentication tab.
- Change the settings as follows:
- EAP type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Uncheck Authenticate as computer when computer information is available.
- Click the Properties button.
- Configure the settings on this page as follows:
- Uncheck Validate server certificate.
- Select Authentication Method: select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP-v2).
- Check Enable Fast Reconnect.
- Click on the Configure button.
- Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any).
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button.
AirBears2 has now been configured for Windows XP.
To log into AirBears2
- When in range and connecting to AirBears2:
- Connect to AirBears2.
- Fill in the fields as follows:
- User name: Your CalNetID [ex. dtrooper]
- Password: The AirBears2 Key created at the beginning of this article.
- Logon domain: Leave Blank
- Click on the OK button.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Turn your wifi connection off then back on before connecting for the first time.
- If connection issues continue, try reordering the AirBears2 network in preferred networks:
- Right click the Wireless Network icon in the taskbar.
- Choose View Available Wireless Network.
- In the left column under Related Tasks, click Change the order of preferred networks.
- The Wireless Network Connection Properties window will open to the Wireless Network Tab.
- Highlight AirBears2 in the list of networks.
- Click the Move up button until it is at the top of the list.
- Click on the OK button.
