Visiting scholars, visiting student researchers, consultants or other guests to UC Berkeley can access the open wireless network, Berkeley-Visitor, for internet access from any Wi-Fi enabled device. Another option is if a visiting scholar's home school takes part in the eduroam program, they may use their home credentials to access the eduroam Wi-Fi network. For limited access to bCourses and a select few other campus services, they may also be provisioned with a CalNet Guest Account.

Before you begin

To access Berkeley-Visitor

  1. When on campus, access available Wi-Fi networks from any applicable device.
  2. Select Berkeley-Visitor from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Accept the UC Berkeley terms of service on the welcome page

To access eduroam

  1. When on campus, access available wifi networks from any applicable device.
  2. Select Eduroam from the list of available wifi networks.
  3. Input one's home credentials as provided by that institution.

To obtain a CalNet Guest Account

  1. Contact a sponsoring staff or faculty member.
  2. Have them navigate to https://idc.berkeley.edu/guests/ and create an account as applicable
  3. Ask them to provide the credentials once created.
  4. Have the requisite bCourse or CalShare site grant access to this CalNet account.
