Berkeley Security Software Installation Instructions for Windows

Requirements

To proceed, ensure that the following conditions are met:

  1. Administrator Access:
    • You must have an “Administrator” account on your computer, allowing you to install applications.
  2.  University-Owned Computer:
    • Do not install this software on your personal computer.
    • The computer must be a university-owned system that is not centrally managed (e.g., not part of the Berkeley Desktop).
  3.  Operating System Compatibility:
    • The computer must run Windows 10 or newer.
    • To check your Windows version:
      • Open the Settings app, go to System > About.
      • Or, right-click on the Start button and select Settings.

Installation Instructions

  1. Verify Eligibility
  2.  Access Software
    • After verification, you’ll be directed to the “Your UC Berkeley Software and Services” page.
    • Scroll down to the "Security Software" section.
    • Locate "Windows Security Software Installer" and click the "Box Link" to access the software package.

  3.  Log in to Box
    • Use your CalNet credentials to log in to Box



    • Click the Download button to start downloading the installer.

  4.  Install BigFix
    • Once the download is complete, open your Downloads folder.
    • Double-click on “BigFixAgent-UCB-2410-01.msi” to begin installation.

      • SHA256 hash of BigFixAgent-UCB-2410-01.msi: 12d63c0a699f5d19122c400a1568904c0e76d49a7c2760ca4045f405d1cfedb4
    • You may need to provide an administrator account username and password to proceed.

  5.  Install Trellix
    • After installing BigFix, the system will automatically install the Trellix Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) software in the background.
    • You can continue working on your computer during this process.
