A knowledge base article about How do I block unwanted email? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
UC Berkeley does not offer email blocking services to campus separate from automated protections provided by Google. If you are receiving email that you do not want in your bMail inbox, you have several options depending on the reason for blocking:
- Block an email address - When you block an email address, all future messages from this user will be marked as spam and sent to your spam folder. Use this feature only when the sender is sending spam to you.
- Remove & block spam - In the case that spam messages do appear in your inbox, use this to move the message into your spam folder.
- Unsubscribe from a mailing list - Unsubscribe from mailing lists that you no longer want to receive updates from.
- Report a suspicious email asking for personal information - If you see a suspicious email phishing for personal information, don't take the bait! Send an email to consult@berkeley.edu or call 510.664.9000.

Additionally, you may want to set up filters in bMail if you want to keep the mail, but have it sorted into folders other than your inbox.
