A knowledge base article about bSecure GlobalProtect VPN: Multiple Logins Requred provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
Users of GlobalProtect on MacOS X attempting to use the bSecure remote access service may be required to log into the CalNet portal multiple times before the connection establishes. It has been reported that as many as 7 attempts are required for users to connect.
This issue is resolved in client version 4.1.10 but if you are running that version and still experience repeated login prompts these the following instructions will resolve the problem. Most users find clearing the cache is all that is needed, some users require a full re-installation of the software.
Clearing the connection cache
- Verify that you are running v4.1.10 or newer by clicking on the gear in the top right hand of the GlobalProtect window and choosing About
- If you are running GlobalProtect 4.1.9 or older first upgrade your software by logging into https://vpn.berkeley.edu, downloading the GlobalProtect MacOS X client, and then installing it.
- Open the settings window by clicking on the gear in the top right of the GlobalProtect window (it may open behind other applications so if you do not see it try minimizing other open windows).
- On the General tab click the Sign Out next to your name on the Account line (your name and the Sign Out button may not show)
- Also on the General tab select vpn.berkeley.edu in the Portals window and then click the minus (-) button to remove the portal configuraiton
- Click Delete when prompted
- Close the settings window
- Open GlobalProtect, put vpn.berkeley.edu in the Portal Address window and click Connect
- If you continue to experience the multiple login issue you will need to re-install the software
Re-Installing GlobalProtect
- Uninstall GlobalProtect completely by following these instructions
- Install GlobalProtect by following these instructions
- Enter vpn.berkeley.edu in the Portal Address window and then click Connect
- If you continue to experience the multiple login issue please report the problem to the service desk
