The steps below will guide you on connecting to eduroam secure wireless network at UC Berkeley using ChromeOS devices.
Ensure you have some form of Wi-Fi or wired network connection
- Open Chrome and go to the GetOnline passwordless confirmation page, you will be prompted to log in to CalNet if you have not already done so.
- Click Continue to open the enrollment site.
- You’ll see a screen prompting you to download a browser extension. Please make sure that it lists Chromebook as your operating system. Click JoinNow.
- You will see the following screens prompting the installation of the browser extension. Add/Allow/Install/Accept as needed.
- You will either be returned to a new page, or a new browser tab will open with a “Download” button. Click the “Download” button.
A file called SecureW2.onc will download, and a new browser page will open. - An additional browser tab will open that is titled “Networks”.
- Under Import ONC, Click “Choose File” file and select the most recent SecureW2.onc that you’ve downloaded.
- Finally, click on the Wireless icon (next to the clock) and switch to the eduroam network. You’ll need to make sure the following values are set:

- EAP Method: EAP-TLS
- EAP Type: EAP-TLSServer CA: Select default
- User Certificate: should already been selected for you
- Identity: calnet-id@berkeley.edu (your CalNet ID, followed by ‘@berkeley.edu’)
You should now be able to select eduroam from the available wireless networks and connect.
