Yes. If you would like to activate a CalNet ID to access alumni resources, such as the My Berkeley Alumni Portal, you may request one by completing the UC Berkeley CalNet Alumni Access Request Form.
Alumni CalNet Request Process
- The alum must complete the UC Berkeley CalNet Alumni Access Request Form.
- University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) evaluates the request and approves or denies it.
- If approved, the alum will need to verify their identity remotely with Berkeley IT by showing a government-issued photo ID via Zoom.
- After identity verification is complete, the alum will receive instructions for activating their CalNet account.
Guiding Principles
- Candidates for a CalNet ID must be UC Berkeley degree holders or attendees with at least 12 completed units (the current definition of “alumni” in campus systems).
- Previous access to a CalNet ID does not set a precedent for future approval.
- All granted requests must adhere to active usage policies and are subject to the KB0014884 - CalNet Lifecycle Management Policy.
Access Restrictions
Activating a CalNet ID as an alum does not provide access to the following services:
- Online library resources (licensed only for current students/staff)
- CalCentral (for registration or enrollment tasks)
