Considerations
The system administration on the user side is minimal, however, if any of the default installation settings are modified without consulting with the Imagine team this could bring unwanted issues to the end user.
From the user's perspective, it is necessary that they log into VPN before accessing the system, especially if they are off campus.
The following are the most common areas where users would experience issues.
- Connection profiles. End users usually have access to the Prod connection profile only. The settings of the Prod connection profile are:
- Name: Production
- img-pa01.ist.berkeley.edu
- Server type: Production
- Port number: 6000
- User name: Remember last successful user name
- Re-imagining scanner machines. Due to the fact that the dedicated scanner machines have been installed with Kofax drivers and licenses to allow the scanning to Perceptive Content, removing a current scanner machine and re-imaging it without first consulting with the Imagine team can be very disruptive for the scanning team. Please review kb articles KB0014530 Perceptive Content Scanners and KB0014531 Installing Scanner Drivers for Perceptive Content Scanners for information on this.
