CalNet 2-Step supports multiple options for authentication without internet access or cellular service. All of these options work without internet access.
- We recommend using the Duo mobile app if you have a smartphone, where you can generate a passcode even if you are not connected to WiFi or cellular service! Find instructions on our Bypass code page.
- Print backup passcodes. Go to your CalNet 2-Step Device Control Panel, click on the "Get/Use Bypass Codes" button to obtain a list of ten passcodes. You can print the passcodes out and then use them to complete a 2-Step.
- Click the "Yes, trust browser" checkbox when you perform a CalNet login from a browser and you will not be prompted for a passcode for 30 days.
- You are also welcome to pick up a simple hardware token or security key which does not require internet or cellular service.

If you have a smartphone that connects to wi-fi but not cellular service, you can still use the Duo app and push notifications to log in.
