The classroom team is in the process of upgrading their touch panel design in all general assignment classrooms. Please see this article for directions on how to adjust the camera in the new touch panel design.

How to blank or unblank the camera

The "blank the camera" button is a feature we added for instructors that do not want their image to be recorded but are scheduled in a classroom with a camera installed. At the start of the lecture, instructors should check the confidence monitor near the touch panel to get a preview of what is being recorded and make adjustments on the touch panel if needed. The confidence monitor shows two streams: The left side shows the projection stream and the right side shows the camera stream.

By blanking the camera, Course Capture will record a black screen rather than the camera. In some rooms, due to technical limitations, this button will pan toward the ceiling rather than show a black screen.

Here's a screenshot of a typical touch panel. The one for your room might differ slightly or might be on the new design.

How to change the camera angles

We provide fixed presets that focus on different parts of the room. If these presets do not work for your course, please provide us feedback at coursecapture@berkeley.edu. Here's a screenshot of a typical touch panel. The one for your room might differ slightly or might be on the new design.

  1. To change the presets please click on Camera Controls

  2. Click on the preset you want to use. You can use the confidence monitor in the room to get a preview of what is being recorded.
