Notice: If your Android device currently has the "GlobalProtect Legacy" application it should be uninstalled and replaced with the updated GlobalProtect software as instructed here. GlobalProtect Legacy is in its fourth year with no updates. The Legacy client has reached end of life, and is no longer supported. Users of the GlobalProtect Legacy application will have difficulties connecting, and staying connected, to the bSecure remote access services.
- Open the Google Play Store and search for “GlobalProtect”, it is by Palo Alto Networks, and install it.
- When the installation is complete open / launch GlobalProtect, the icon is a globe with a shield.
- You will see the initial configuration page
- Enter “vpn.berkeley.edu” in the portal address field and click connect
- You will then see a popup for the CalNet authentication page to connect to the VPN
- Android OS will then let you know that GlobalProtect is attempting to setup a VPN connection, allow it by clicking OK. Please note that this is a generic message from Android related to VPN connections and will be displayed during the installation of any VPN software, it does not relate specifically to GlobalProtect or the bSecure Remote Access service.
- Once the connection is in place you will be shown the Connection page which lists the available VPN connections available.
- You can disconnect by clicking the Disconnect button.
