Background
Sometimes, users get the error "Unable to get CLSID of controller" when trying to print to Perceptive Content (formerly known as ImageNow) INow printer.
Resolution
Per Hyland, the product vendor this error occurs when the User Account Control (UAC) security component in Windows prevents the ImageNow Printer installation from completing successfully.
Note: This issue can also happen when UAC is turned down or disabled, but the user is not logged in as a Local Administrator. Before disabling UAC, refer to the following:
• Turn off UAC in Windows Vista
• Turn off UAC in Windows 7
To resolve this issue, disable UAC on the local user account, and then re-attempt the printer installation. If UAC cannot be disabled due to security policies, use the following potential workaround:
1. Within Windows Explorer, locate cmd.exe, installed by default in the [dr ve]:\Windows\system32 folder.
2. Right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
3. Within the Command Prompt window, go to the [drive:]\Program Files\ImageNow&\bin folder.
Note: if Perceptive Content version 7.X or higher is installed, go to the [drive]:\Program Files (x86)\ImageNow\bin folder.
4. Within the bin directory, type imagenow/REGSERVER, and then press ENTER.
5. Test by printing from the ImageNow Printer.
