An enterprise license for Yet Another Mail Merge (YAMM) has been temporarily sponsored for campus departments. YAMM is an add-on that integrates with Gmail to provide the ability to send personalized emails, newsletters, or forms to multiple recipients, without the need to write HTML for templates.
Key Features
- Email up to 1,500 addresses per account, per day, and schedule campaigns for specific days and times.
- Add unique CC/BCC recipients and attachments to each email.
- View real-time analytics, including open and click-through rates.
- Best Use: For departmental mailings sent only to recipients who have opted in or otherwise agreed to receive them.
- Integrates With: Google Sheets and Gmail, allowing you to send personalized emails directly from a spreadsheet.
Eligibility
YAMM is available by request. To help mitigate security risks, the enterprise license is primarily intended for use with Special Purpose Accounts (SPAs). However, at this time, any employee, affiliate, or student may request access and be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
To remain eligible, you must follow all applicable policies, including:
- Electronic Communications Policy
- Terms and Conditions of Appropriate Use for bMail
- Campus Online Activities Policy
- Google Workspace Acceptable Use Policy
- YAMM Terms of service
These policies prohibit activities such as sending unsolicited (spam) messages and using University accounts to promote commercial services or activities.
Student Accounts
Prior to September 2025, a number of students gained access and began using YAMM outside its original scope. Moving forward, while YAMM remains primarily intended for SPAs, student requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Students must agree to the following conditions:
- Do not send unsolicited (spam) or bulk messages.
- Do not use your @berkeley.edu account to promote commercial services unrelated to University activities.
- Do not misuse your @berkeley.edu account in ways that disrupt services or violate University policy.
Violations
Access to YAMM will be revoked if you violate any of the above policies. Access will also be revoked, without exception or appeal, if your account is blocked by Google for sending spam.
Getting Started
Departments and individuals can request YAMM through this Google Form.
Install the YAMM add-on from the Sheets toolbar: Add-ons > Get add-ons; OR from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
Support
Please note, YAMM is not supported by UC Berkeley IT. Visit YAMM Support.
The Enterprise License has been renewed through June 30, 2026. We will be evaluating whether continued renewal is feasible.
