UC Berkeley Box accounts are created based on CalNet ID when a user first signs into box.berkeley.edu. No additional account set up is needed to create the account.
For most users, the CalNet ID will be the same as their email address. For example, a CalNet ID of “oskibear” that has the email address oskibear@berkeley.edu. This user’s Box account will be associated with CalNet ID “oskibear”.
However, there are some users whose CalNet ID differs from their email address. For example, a CalNet ID of “oskibear12345” with the email address oskibear@berkeley.edu. In this case, the Box account will be associated with CalNet ID “oskibear12345” and not their email address oskibear@berkeley.edu. This may cause confusion to collaborators who are most familiar with the user’s email address and not their CalNet ID.
If your CalNet ID differs from the address(es) you most commonly use, you can add additional aliases to your account.
