Portable Equipment Setup - Zoom Q4 Camcorder

Basic Operation

Press the small power button located on top of the device to turn it on.

open the flap on the side to reveal the LCD screen.  The screen can be turned 180 degree.

Recording button (right)

  • GREEN - not currently recording, device ready
  • RED - recording in progress
 

Micro HDMI port (top left)
This port is used to connect to TV or projector.

Mini USB port (top right)
This port is used to transfer files and charging

External input jack (bottom left in Red)
This port is for wired microphone

Headphone jack (bottom right in Green)
This is for connecting headphone to monitor audio level

 

 Built-in microphone can be raised during recording.

Recording Video

  • Press the power button to turn on the recorder.
  • Open the LCD screen flap.
  • Once the Record button shows green, you are ready to record.
  • Press the record button once, the LED will turn red, indicating it's currently recording.
  • When ready to stop, press the record button again, the LED will turn green, signaling the recording has stopped.

 

Charging the device

  • Attach one side of the USB cable to the AC adapter and attach the other end to the camcorder's Mini USB port.
  • If a wall outlet is not available, you can also charge it via your laptop's USB port (note that this charging method will take longer).
  • Once the cable plugged in the "Battery charging LED" sign should be lit.

  Transferring Files to the computer

 

USB Cable

  • Attach smaller side of USB cable to the mini USB port on the back of the camcorder.
  • Attach the other end of USB cable to a USB port on your computer.
  • Turn on the camcorder.
  • Follow the on-screen instruction and select SD card

SD Card

  • Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the camcorder.
  • Gently push the SD card in and it should pop out automatically.
  • Insert the SD card into the SD port or card reader on your computer.
