If you need other UC Berkeley users to help you manage your Kaltura videos (to be able to edit or publish them) or to be able to view the videos without having first published them, you'll want to add them as collaborators. You can do this in either bCourses or MediaSpace. You must repeat the steps for each video; at this time there is no way to add collaborators to multiple videos at once.

Note for Course Capture Videos: it is necessary to first create a copy of a Course Capture video. This is because when you participate in Course Capture, you do not have ownership of your videos (The Course Capture service has ownership). This limits what you are able to do with the recordings, including the ability to add Co-Viewers and other collaborators to your media. You must create a copy to become the owner of your video and thus be able to gain full control over your video. To create a copy, launch the Kaltura editor (as described in the first three steps of "How do I use the Kaltura video editor?") and select the Save a Copy button in the upper right-hand corner

How to add collaborators or change the owner of Kaltura media

1. Go to your My Media in the global navigation (vertical navigation bar on the left) of bCourses or MediaSpace.

2. Follow the steps in Change Media Owner and Add Collaborator or watch the video below to add collaborators to your Kaltura media.

The collaborator roles and permissions are as follows:

3. All collaborators will now have access to your video in their own My Media.

Note: The person you are adding (or transferring ownership to), must have an account in Kaltura. If you find that someone's name does not come up in the dropdown list, refer them to our KB article, How can I be sure that I have a Kaltura account?.

Important Student Privacy Information

If you intend to share video that includes student participation (identifying information such as name, image, or voice), you must follow certain practices; please see the Academic Senate FAQ "If I record a class lecture or discussion, and it includes student participation (identifying information such as name, image, or voice), can I share the recording with individuals who are not enrolled in the course?"
