Instructors of record have the ability to create course sites in bCourses. CalNet instructor appointments are automatically future-dated to grant instructors access to bCourses as soon as hiring paperwork is processed by the campus. Please work with your department scheduler to ensure that your hiring paperwork is on track to grant you access to bCourses with time to build your course.

The guest account process described below is intended for users without a Berkeley affiliation and should not be used to grant an instructor early access to bCourses.

If you need access to bCourses and you do not have a CalNet account, see below for information about the CalNet Sponsored Guest process.

Instructions

  1. Find a staff member or instructor to sponsor you for a CalNet Guest Account (See CalNet Sponsor Guide).
  2. Follow the steps in the email you receive from CalNet prompting you to set up your Guest Account.
  3. Once your account is created, other instructors or staff can grant you access to their course sites by enrolling your email address (See How do I add users to my course site?).
  4. Log in with your Guest Account to access the courses where you have been enrolled.
