You do not need to take action if you have a campus-managed computer (aka Berkeley Desktop). Unsure if you have a campus-managed computer? Learn how to check here.

Requirements

To proceed, ensure that the following conditions are met:

  1. Administrator Access:
    • You must have an “Administrator” account on your computer, allowing you to install applications.
  2.  University-Owned Computer:
    • Do not install this software on your personal computer.
    • The computer must be a university-owned system that is not centrally managed (e.g., not part of the Berkeley Desktop).
  3. Operating System Compatibility:
    • The computer must run macOS 11 or newer
    • To check your macOS version:
      • Click the Apple icon on the top left corner, select About This Mac

Installation Instructions

  1. Log in to the Berkeley Security Software Enrollment Webpage for macOS
  2. Install the MDM Profile
    • Click the “Continue” button to install the MDM profile



    • Your browser may prompt you to allow downloads, click “Allow



    • Once the MDM Profile is downloaded to your computer you will get a notification in the top right corner of your screen.



    • Review and install the MDM Profile called “enrollmentProfile.mobileconfig” in System Settings. 
    • Open System Settings on your computer (you can find it in your Applications folder)
    • Type “Profiles” in the search bar on the top left corner, and then select the pane underneath the search bar to open it depending on your operating system version:
      • Profiles” (macOS 14 Sonoma and older) or
      • Device Management” (macOS 15 Sequoia and newer)



    • Double-click the "MDM Profile" to review it
    • Click "Install" at the bottom to proceed with installation on your Mac.



  3. Install BigFix and Trellix
    • After the MDM Profile is installed, the enrollment process will automatically install BigFix and the Trellix Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) software. 



    • When the installation is complete, you will see a confirmation message.

  1. Search for an app called "FireEye Helper" in the Applications Folder
