To embed Kaltura media in Pages, Discussions, Assignments, Announcements, and anywhere else in bCourses that uses the Canvas Rich Content Editor, follow the steps below. (Note: Kaltura does NOT work in Group Discussions. If you need to embed in a Group Discussion, you'll need to use one of the non-Kaltura methods in How do I embed media in bCourses?.)

To embed Kaltura Media using the Rich Content Editor

1. With the Rich Content Editor open, click Embed Kaltura Media.

2. From the window that opens up on the page, if the media you want to embed is already in your My Media or a Media Gallery, click on the appropriate tab.

Note: If you have a bCourses role of Teacher, TA, or Owner and there are Playlists in the course site's Media Gallery, you can also embed playlists. Click the Media Gallery Playlists tab to get a list of playlists that you can embed.

If the media you want to embed isn't already in My Media or Media Gallery or Media Gallery Playlists, you can click +Add New and add media to your My Media or Media Gallery using Media Upload, Express Capture, YouTube, or Kaltura Capture. For more help on uploading or creating media, see How do I upload existing media files to My Media? How do I record short webcam videos using Express Capture? How do I add YouTube videos to My Media?, or How do I get started using Kaltura Capture to record videos?

3. Do one of the following:

Important Student Privacy Information

If you intend to share video that includes student participation (identifying information such as name, image, or voice), you must follow certain practices; please see the Academic Senate FAQ "If I record a class lecture or discussion, and it includes student participation (identifying information such as name, image, or voice), can I share the recording with individuals who are not enrolled in the course?"
