A bConnected Key is a required component of using one's @berkeley.edu bMail account with mail applications (Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.), chat applications (Google Talk, Pidgin, Adium, etc.) and most mobile devices.
To create a bConnected Key:
1. Go to Manage My Keys application: http://idc.berkeley.edu/mmk select bConnected and authenticate with your CalNet credentials.
2. Click "Set Key" button under Key Options.
3. You may select a pre-generated key or define your own.
If you choose to define your own bConnected key please note the key cannot be the same as your Calnet Passphrase but has the same requirements.
bConnected Key Passphrase Requirements:
- A minimum length of 9 characters (maximum 255). It may also include spaces (which is why we call it a passphrase).
- It must contain characters from at least three of the following four character groups:
- English uppercase (A through Z)
- English lowercase (a through z)
- numeric digits (0 through 9)
- non-alphanumeric characters (such as !, $, #, or %)
3. Click the Set Key button to save your bConnected key.
- Please note- if you forget or lose the key you must generate a new one.
