How to convert a Servicenow Homepage to a Dashboard

This document will walk through how to convert or delete a ServiceNow Home Page to a ServiceNow Dashboard.  As of March 2023, ServiceNow Home Pages will no longer be supported - dashboards will continue to be supported.

On the left-hand navigation, under Self-Service, select ‘Homepage'

If you see a screen with a create a dashboard message like this, select ‘Create Dashboard Version’

If you don’t see a screen with the ‘create a dashboard’ message like the one above, from viewing your Homepage, click on the 2nd gear icon on the right from the top

In the new pop up window, click on the button “Create Dashboard Version”

In the next pop up window choose “Create new dashboard” and click on the “Create” button

Your new Dashboard will now have been created.

If you have more than one home page you would like to convert, just repeat the steps above for each home page.

WARNING: It is best if you perform all converts and/or deletes of your homepages before you go to the next step of changing your default opening page.

Changing your Default Opening Page

Currently your default opening page will most likely be set to a Homepage. Once you have converted to dashboards you can change the default opening page to point to your dashboard.  Go to the Dashboard you want to use as your default opening page.

In this Dashboard view click on the gear icon in the top right corner.

In the pop up settings window, for your “Home” setting, you will want to choose “Dashboards”. Click the X to close this window.

To verify your default setting:

If you are In the ITSM/HR instance, click on the Berkeley logo in the top left corner of your view and your dashboard should be rendered.

If you are in the TelCat instance, click on ‘homepage’ in your left nav and your default dashboard willrender.   At this point, all changes should be made to the dashboard - do not update your homepages anymore.

Deleting a Homepage

If you would like to delete your Homepage rather than convert it, go to the homepage and click on the cog and click ‘Delete Page’.
