A Change Advisory Board, otherwise known as CAB, is a group of people who run formal CAB meetings to assess, prioritize, authorize and schedule changes as part of the change control process.  At Berkeley, CAB meetings are held once a week to review changes that were submitted via ServiceNow.

An effective CAB must have the right CAB members and a CAB owner.  The CAB should include at least one representative from all groups affected by the changes on the agenda (including non-IT groups if applicable) and can include manager or non-managers, such as a network engineer or business users.  It is likely to include groups from functional and technical disciplines such as the service desk, application support, server support, etc.  The CAB owner acts as a chairperson as should be a CAB member.  This person is typically a change manager or on a change management team.

When a change in Berkeley IT is needed, the department must submit a change into ServiceNow.  Here's more info on how to Create an IT Request for Change

There are 3 change types available within ServiceNow:  Normal, Standard, and Emergency   Only normal changes are routed to CAB for approval.  Emergency changes will appear on the CAB agenda but are reviewed and approved after the fact.

Details on how the meeting is run can be found here: Facilitate CAB Meeting
