How do I connect to eduroam on ChromeOS?

This article explains how to connect to the UC Berkeley Campus eduroam WiFi network on a device running ChromeOS. 

Before you Begin

  1. Forget or Delete the CalVistor and airbears2 networks from your remembered WiFi networks list
    1. Open Settings by clicking on the status bar ChromeOS Status Bar and then the gear icon ChromeOS Settings Gear Icon
    2. Select Network in the left hand menu, then Wi-Fi from the right hand window
    3. Select the three dots ChromeOS Three Dots Icon to the right of the wireless network name
    4. Click Forget from the pop-up contextual menu
  2. Create your WiFi Key


Connecting ChromeOS to eduroam

1. Open Wi-Fi by clicking on the status bar ChromeOS Status Bar and then the down arrow under the WiFi icon

Note: clicking on the icon itself will disable Wi-Fi, the goal is to open the Wi-Fi list by selecting below the icon in the text space.

Ensure the switch next to Wi-Fi is set to the right and blue. The device may display "Searching for networks" for a few moments before displaying the list of available wireless networks.

2. Select eduroam from the list to connect (depending on your location you may have to scroll through a long list to find eduroam)

Depending on the version of ChromeOS and the resolution of your screen the Join Wi-Fi Network dialog may require you to scroll to access all fields.

3. The "Join Wi-Fi Network" dialog will open and will require some or all of the following information


4. Click Connect


5. If you have entered the information as listed along with your correct WiFi ID and Key your device should connect to the eduroam network
