If you are adding someone as an owner to a Departmental Account or assisting them with troubleshooting CalNet issues, knowing either your own or someone else's CalNetUID may be required.  This information is available through the UC Berkeley Campus Directory. Users can set their own privacy settings within the directory and may have their listing restricted to only CalNet authenticated users, or entirely private. If you cannot find the listing you are looking for you can ask a member of your team with CalNet Admin Tool access to search for the user, or open a ticket with calnet-admin@berkeley.edu.

To locate a user's CalNetUID:

  1. Navigate to the UC Berkeley Campus Directory.
  2. Fill in / change the fields as follows:
    • Search On: Last Name, First Name
      • Searching by name is preferable because many users do not have their @berkeley.edu address publicly listed.
    • Population: All
    • Search Term: Last Name, First name
      • Ex. Turvy, Hurbert
  3. Click on the Search button.
  4. Click on the applicable name.
    • If no results appear, the name may be either unlisted or misspelled.
  5. Locate the Details for: header at the top.
  6. To the right, (UID : ########) should be visible.

For additional assistance, contact CSS IT at 510-664-9000 and follow the prompts to reach a technician from between 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. A ticket may also be submitted through IT Client Services (ITCS) or by e-mailing itcsshelp@berkeley.edu
