All videos uploaded to Kaltura will have automatic machine captioning. If professional captioning for a DSP accommodation is needed, please consult the DSP office.
Only owners and co-editors of a Kaltura media can edit and manage captions.
Editing captions:
For instructions on editing captions, see the vendor documentation for Editing Captions (but be aware that when this documentation refers to the “Captions Requests” menu item, you should instead look for a “+Captions and Enrich” menu item)
Managing captions:
Please see the vendor documentation on how to upload and manage captions. It covers
- Adding a new caption file
- Modifying the caption label that displays on the player
- Changing the caption file used by default
- Deleting a caption file
- Downloading a caption file
In addition, there is a task you can accomplish that is not covered in the vendor documentation:
- Toggling whether the caption file is displayed as an option on the player (i.e. listed when viewers click the CC control)
- The "Show On Player" icon indicates that the captions in this row of the table are currently not an option in the CC control; to add them as an option, click the icon.
- The "Don't Show On Player" icon indicates that captions in this row of the table are a current option in the CC control; to remove them as an option, click the icon.
- The "Show On Player" icon indicates that the captions in this row of the table are currently not an option in the CC control; to add them as an option, click the icon.
