Turn on Secure Boot in the BIOS

Please perform the following checklist of items before using the Self Service Offer to upgrade to Windows 11:

Step 1: Restart your computer and press any one of the following keys F2/F8/F12 (tap multiple times) or (you may press ENTER to interrupt the start-up before pressing any key listed above).  And enter the BIOS setup

Step 2: Click on the App Menu Tab (If it takes you directly to setup skip to Step 4)

Step 3: Select Setup

Click on App Menu then Setup on older BIOS versions

Step 4: Click the Security tab

Step 5: Click Secure Boot

Step 6: Toggle Secure Boot switch on

Step 7: Press F10 to save and exit, this will restart your laptop. 

Press F10 and click save changes to apply

 

Step 8: Please be sure to keep the computer from going to sleep during this process.

You will need to change the power settings for the computer:

 

  1. Click on the Search Magnifying glass. Type Power or Edit Power

  2. Configure Power & Sleep Settings so the "Sleep" option is set to "Never". This setting can be changed after the upgrade has been completed.

Within 24-48 hours you should be able to perform the following:

Steps to use the Self Service Offer to upgrade your Berkeley Desktop to Windows 11

  1. Open the BigFix Self Service portal by clicking the small “b” icon in the taskbar

  2. Locate the Self Service Offer called “Berkeley Desktop Windows 11 Upgrade” and click the “Accept” button

  3. A new window will appear to allow you five minutes to save your work. Click the button “Take Action” to start the upgrade process. After five minutes, the upgrade process will automatically start

  4. The upgrade process may take 45-60 minutes to complete depending on your environment. Please contact your IT Support Staff if you receive an error for further assistance

  5. After the upgrade to Windows 11 has completed, your computer will restart and bring you to the Windows 11 Login Screen. Please log in to your computer, and you will now be using Windows 11 on your Berkeley Desktop
