Introduction

The list below highlights examples of common devices that may interfere with other wireless devices and the campus eduroam network.

 Device Type  Potential Impact and Comments
 Cellular Phones  Little to no impact
 BlueTooth Devices  Little to no Impact
 Wireless Printers  High Impact, if wireless printing is enabled.
 Microwave Ovens  High Impact
 Non-IST Provided Wifi Access Points and Routers  High Impact - common cause of network problems.
 Cordless Phones and Headsets  Impact Varies:
  • 900 Mhz devices have little to no impact.
  • 2.4 Ghz devices have high impact and should not be used if possible. 
  • DECT 6.0 (1.9 GHz) Headsets have little to no impact. (this is the type provided by IST-Telecommunications).
  • 5.0 and 5.8 Ghz devices have high impact and should not be used if possible.
