You can remove files from Box by clicking the trash icon. Starting Nov. 1, 2021 files in the trash will automatically be emptied 30 days after being put in the trash. Files in trash that are 30+ days old when the setting change goes into effect will not be emptied for 30 days, which will be Dec. 1, 2021.

Note: if you're the owner of a shared file, others can view it until the file is permanently deleted. If you're not the owner, others can see the file even if your trash is emptied.

To recover or delete items from the system

  1. Navigate to berkeley.box.com/
  2. Click on the Continue button.
    • If prompted with the CalNet Authentication Screen, enter your CalNetID and passphrase.
  3. Navigate to the Box Knowledge Base article on Managing Trash
  4. Apply the procedure as applicable.

For additional assistance, contact CSS IT at 510-664-9000 and follow the prompts to reach a technician from between 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. A ticket may also be submitted through http://sharedservices.berkeley.edu/it/ or by e-mailing boxsupport@berkeley.edu.
