How to restrict incident visibility

The restricted incident functionality can be used to manage visibility of an incident that contains sensitive information. Do not store personally identifiable information (PII), FERPA, or HIPAA data on the ServiceNow platform.

Note: The availability of this feature is limited. Users must first attend training to restrict incidents on the ServiceNow platform.

Note: Once an incident has been restricted and saved, it cannot be unrestricted.

Caution: It is possible to lock yourself or your group out of an incident with this feature.

  1. Check the Restricted check box



  2. Add any users to the Restricted user list field
  3. Add any groups to the Restricted group list field
  4. Click Save
