Symptom screening requirements change Friday May 6, 2022

Beginning Friday, May 6, completing the Daily Symptom Screener will no longer be required. Instead, you will be required to self-assess your symptoms each day before coming to campus. You should not come to campus if you have had any new and unusual symptoms of COVID-19 (not attributed to a previously known medical condition) in the last 24 hours. Please also refer to the contact tracing and close exposures page for additional guidance. Along with the Daily Symptom Screener, the Campus Access Badge will no longer be available beginning May 6.

----------------------------------

Starting on March 15, 2021 there will be a new Campus Access Badge available in the Berkeley Mobile App and in the Portal system.

The Campus Access badge is a consolidation of separate policies which govern whether you have approval to come to campus.  This document outlines which policies apply to the different campus groups.

Policy Description Frequency When does Portal get updated from the source system? Global Campus Access Badge updated
Surveillance testing aka Campus Community Screening Testing/screening for COVID-19 is required for students and faculty and staff who are on campus for work.   The PCR test is just once in 180 days if you are vaccinated.

COVID Training

COVID Training is mandatory for faculty and staff who need to come to UC facilities.

  • Course Code: BEEHS207-UCB_ COVID-19-210707

Daily Symptom Screener

The Daily Symptom Screener certificate is necessary before stepping on campus.  This must be taken every day.  If you work at night, the flags are reset at midnight so you will need to take it again after midnight for the rest of your shift or talk to your supervisor for what works best for your situation.

Note: The daily email reminder to take the daily symptom screener was discontinued in spring 2021.

Daily immediately can take up to 45 minutes
2021/2022 Flu Vaccine Policy

As of November 19, 2021, all employees who access UC property will need to have obtained a flu vaccine or affirmatively decline to be vaccinated.   Learn more about the Influenza Vaccine, also known as the “Flu Shot”. Please check the People & Culture’s Flu Shot 2021 webpage for more details. UCOP has also published a set of frequently asked questions on its website should you need more information.

Expired policies:

Once you become compliant, your badge status may not be updated immediately.  Hover your mouse over the icon to see how long the delay is.  For example:

Affiliates will always see a red 'Campus Access' badge even if they comply with all policies.  Affiliates, volunteers and guests should discuss their campus access with their campus contact before coming to campus.

If you feel that your badge status is incorrect, please contact the site that you are using to view your badge:

New hires who are entered into UC Path with a future-dated appointment can create their CalNet ID in advance of their first day of work, which will enable them to take the COVID test at UHS. HR partners need to enter the record into UC Path before the person is scheduled to start working. Also, a non-berkeley.edu email address is required for the user to create their CalNet ID, so make sure to include that in their UC Path record.

If you have any questions about the policies and whether they apply to you, please speak with your supervisor or student advisor or review the Working on Campus guidelines.

Who can see the campus access badges?
Anyone can see the Global Access Badge of anyone else.  If the Global Campus Access Badge is red, any one of the pieces of information is not up to date or not compliant with campus policy. If all information is complete and up to date, Global Campus Access badge will be green. Campus Access does not include personal health information, only compliance or non-compliance with campus policy.
A person's direct supervisor has access to click on and view Campus Access detailed information for each policy, along with supervisors up the direct chain of command.

Can I delegate access in my department for one person to manage my direct reports or our department's Campus Access Status information?
Access to this data cannot be delegated. This information is sensitive and protected by various policies and the ability to see Campus Access must adhere to policy. Reach out to your CAO as well as People & Culture for questions about an employee's compliance or non-compliance with the policies around Campus Access.
