How do I set bMail as my default client for when I click on e-mail links?

Links found on websites, in Word files or other documents that contain an e-mail address will open in the default e-mail client set for that machine (whether it is Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird). To enable these links to open directly in a browser and through the bMail web interface, the following procedure can be used.

Before you begin:

To enable bMail to handle MailTo links:

  1. Open Chrome
  2. In the top right corner of the browser, click on the three horizontal bars
  3. Click on Settings
  4. At the very bottom of the Settings screen, click on Show advanced settings...
  5. Locate the Privacy field
  6. Click on the Content Settings... button directly undernearth it
  7. Locate the Manage handlers... button
  8. Click on it
  9. Under the Site drop down, select either Gmail or UC Berkeley Mail
  10. Click on the Done button
Links accessed in Chrome that point to an e-mail address will now open in bMail.
