Links found on websites, in Word files or other documents that contain an e-mail address will open in the default e-mail client set for that machine (whether it is Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird). To enable these links to open directly in a browser and through the bMail web interface, the following procedure can be used.
Before you begin:
- Confirm that Chrome is installed on the applicable computer
To enable bMail to handle MailTo links:
- Open Chrome
- In the top right corner of the browser, click on the three horizontal bars
- Click on Settings
- At the very bottom of the Settings screen, click on Show advanced settings...
- Locate the Privacy field
- Click on the Content Settings... button directly undernearth it
- Locate the Manage handlers... button
- Click on it
- Under the Site drop down, select either Gmail or UC Berkeley Mail
- Click on the Done button
