Testing CalGroups to Google Groups Synchronization

To begin testing, go to calgroups.berkeley.edu and navigate to your specific Org folder:
Berkeley / Organizations / (your Org folder)

Sync Timing: Please allow up to 15 minutes for changes in CalGroups to be reflected in Google Groups.

1. Enabling Google Provisioning

Create a group and add members, then enable the sync by following these steps:

  1. Click the More actions button on the top right.
  2. Select Edit Provisioning Info to open the provisioning form.
  3. On the form, select Yes for the option Sync to bConnected Google Groups.
  4. Click Update.

2. Testing Membership Changes

3. Toggling Provisioning and Deletion

4. Understanding Membership Limits

Membership Limit: Currently, you can only sync groups of 350 members or fewer. Any update that would result in a total membership greater than 350 will fail.

Example: If a synced group has 100 members and you add 300 more, none of the 300 new members will sync. The original 100 will remain.

To test the limit:

  1. Create a group with 100 members in CalGroups and sync it to Google.
  2. Add another 300 members. Verify that the original members remain provisioned, but the new members do not appear in Google.

5. Testing Admin Privileges

Adding users to the Privileges tab in CalGroups syncs them as Managers in the Google Group.

  1. Add a user as a standard member of the group; verify they appear as a "Member" in Google.
  2. Add that same person to the Admin privilege in CalGroups.
  3. Verify that their role in the Google Group updates to Manager.
