Zoom Meeting and Webinar tips and tricks

A knowledge base article about Zoom Meeting and Webinar tips and tricks provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal

Here are some tips and tricks when you hold a Zoom Webinar or Large Meeting.

  1. Ensure you have enough network bandwidth.  You can check your bandwidth and check Zoom's recommendations.  You can test your connection by joining a test meeting.
  2. Ensure you have a quality camera, microphone and speakers.  See Zoom's recommendations here.
  3. You may want to set a Virtual Background to preserve the privacy of your home or office.
  4. If there are others at your location, you may want to put a sign on your home office door that you are giving a presentation and you are not to be disturbed.
  5. If it's noisy outside you may want to close your windows.
  6. Fans and microphones don't mix well.  Make sure your fan is far enough away from your microphone so it doesn't cause interference.
  7. Cell phones often cause unwanted feedback.  If you are a presenter/panelist, you may want to join using a landline or your computer audio.
