Zoom: Audio issues solved in Zoom version 5.0

In Zoom version 5.0 and higher, in preferences/Audio/Advanced there is now a selection to allow you to share the original sound from your microphone rather than the heavily processed sound that Zoom provides. Most instructors probably wont find this useful but for music classes it might have a benefit. Selecting this in Zoom’s preferences will allow you to toggle it on or off while in a meeting from a button at the top left of your screen.

Also in Zoom preferences/Audio/Advanced there are options to turn off persistent or intermittent background noise suppression and to increase echo cancellation. Turning off intermittent noise suppression solved a problem we were having for a percussion class where Zoom was muting the microphone when there was only drumming and no voice. For circumstances where echo is a persistent problem, turning up echo cancellation may improve things.
