Why do I get "The webpage at ... might be temporarily down or it may have moved" error?

A knowledge base article about Why do I get "The webpage at ... might be temporarily down or it may have moved" error? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal

Older versions of the Macintosh operating system (OS X 10.13 "High Sierra" and prior) may present the following error message when trying to access Kaltura assets in bCourses - "The webpage at https://kaf.berkeley.edu/canvas/... might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address."

This issue is caused by expired security certificates in the operating system, which are no longer being updated by Apple as of mid-2019. The only solution to mitigate this error and restore access to Kaltura in bCourses is to update your operating system. Apple has instructions for updating to a more current version of the OS here - How to get old versions of macOS

Note that per UC Berkeley IT minimum security standards, an operating system which no longer is receiving security updates is forbidden from connecting to any campus network, so it is a good idea to update regardless of the specific Kaltura issue discussed here - Minimum Security Standards for Networked Devices

If you are unable to update your OS beyond the current version, then you will need to use a different device to access Kaltura in bCourses.
