Why can't I access certain features or services in Google?

Certain groups under the age of 18 years old may have limited access to specific Google Workspace for Education services. 

Affected Groups

• Non-degree-seeking students under 18 (see defined non-degree programs)
• Non-student employees under 18

Google Services

For detailed information on limitations, please refer to the Google Workspace for Education app restrictions for users under 18. Affected services include:

• Google Search: SafeSearch will be automatically applied to filter explicit content.
• Google Play: Only content rated Everyone, Everyone 10+ or Teen is available.
• Google Maps & Earth: Payment features, public posting, Timeline and Location History will be limited.
• Google Photos: Paid features, partner sharing, in-app sharing or receiving photos/videos, private conversations will be limited.
• Google Groups: Public groups ending in @googlegroups.com will be inaccessible.
• Gemini: Image generation may be restricted; Gemini within Google Classroom is limited.
• Google Classroom: Creating or editing content, resources or assignments with Gemini is not permitted.
• YouTube: Content creation, live streams, comments, live chat, and purchases are not permitted.

Correcting Errors in Age Reporting

If you believe your age has been recorded incorrectly, and would like to update it, please follow the instructions below. 

For employees:

1. Log into https://ucpath.universityofcalifornia.edu, select Employee Actions > Personal Information > Personal Information Summary. 
2. Answer security questions to validate identification.
3. Click the Expand Date of Birth section button. 
4. Click the Change/Update DOB button. 
5. Click the Submit button.
