When do Student Records Enter CalNet Identity Data?

A knowledge base article about When do Student Records Enter CalNet Identity Data? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal

Student records are loaded into CalNet Identity Data through a series of automated feeds. Personal data for incoming undergraduates is typically loaded a few days after the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) has been submitted and initial fees have been paid. Graduate and professional school timelines (such as Law) are more fluid, and data loading is an ongoing process.

Schedule of Student Data Feeds

The timing for when student records first appear in campus systems depends on the term and the type of student.

Account Creation: When do records enter LDAP?

CalNet pulls data for graduate and undergraduate students into LDAP when students are admitted and before they have returned their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). These records are held in a "pre-SIR" OU (container) in LDAP until students have officially returned their SIR, at which time they move to the People OU. For more technical information, see the Knowledge Base article: KB0015289 - How LDAP is Organized (Pre-SIR OU).

Onboarding and Access

A student's digital identity is added to CalNet Identity Data and Active Directory as soon as they create their account. This account creation gives them access to the specific sites and portals necessary to complete initial onboarding tasks. To register for classes, apply for orientation, or request housing, a student must have an active account in the Identity Data system.
