What file formats can be uploaded to Kaltura?

The following file formats can be uploaded to Kaltura following the instructions in How do I upload existing media files to My Media?.

• .JPG/JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group
• .TIF/.TIFF: Tag Image File Format
• .BMP: Bitmap Image File

Video and Audio Files:

• .MP4: Mpeg-4
• .MOV: Apple QuickTime
• .QT: Apple QuickTime (old format)
• .M4V: Mpeg-4
• .FLV: Flash Video/Audio
• .F4V: Flash Video/Audio
• .AVI: Audio Video Interleave
• .ASF: Microsoft Media
• .WMV: Windows Media Video
• .WMA: Windows Media Audio
• .MPG: Digital Media Format
• .M1V: MPEG-1/2
• .M2V: MPEG-1/2
• .MP3/MPEG3: Moving Picture Experts Program Audio Layer 3
• .WAV: Waveform Audio File Format
• .MKV: Matroska
• .3GP: Multimedia Mobile Format
• .RM: Real Media
• .ARF: Webex

Note that Kaltura cannot handle animated .GIF files; if you try to upload them, they will appear as a still image of the gif's thumbnail. If you want to share an animated gif in bCourses, you will need to embed it using the Rich Content Editor. Refer to How do I embed media in bCourses? for more information.
