All users of Social Credentials at UC Berkeley must enable MFA on any account used to access University of California, Berkeley services, including the My Berkeley Alumni Portal. Continuous MFA compliance is necessary for access.
You must keep your access credentials secure and use MFA only on devices that you alone control. Avoid configuring MFA on shared or public devices.
You must follow the MFA guidelines specific to your chosen third-party provider. Note: SMS and voice calls for MFA are prohibited.
For Google accounts, use one of the following MFA methods:
Push Notifications
Passkeys or Hardware Security Keys
Software Authenticator Apps
QR Code Authentication
For LinkedIn accounts, you must use:
Software Authenticator App
Note: Push notifications can’t be your primary MFA method during initial setup.
Not following these MFA requirements may lead to the suspension or termination of your access to the My Berkeley Alumni Portal and other University systems.
