Audience

Understanding Credit-Based Features

Your ChatGPT Edu license includes limited access to advanced capabilities such as Deep Research, Thinking models, Image Generation, Advanced Voice, and Codex that use credits to run. To see how many credits each feature consumes, please refer to the ChatGPT Rate Card and Codex rate card.

If you hit your limit, advanced credit-based features will be unavailable until the credit allocation resets on the 1st of the month.

Requesting Additional Credits

Each ChatGPT Edu license includes 200 credits per month. If you need more capacity, you can request a higher monthly limit via the Request Credit Increase for ChatGPT Education form. Any usage over 200 credits is billed monthly via chartstring at $0.04/credit based on actual consumption.

  1. Check the credit cost for features, models and Codex usage.  
  2. Align the right model to meet your needs. 
    • Choose the default model for everyday chats
    • Compare ChatGPT Models and their capabilities to consume credits only when necessary
