Zoom Require password to access shared cloud recordings

A knowledge base article about Zoom Require password to access shared cloud recordings provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal

On April 13, 2020 Zoom activated the Require password to access shared cloud recordings setting on all accounts.  Password protection will be enforced for shared cloud recordings. A random password will be generated which can be modified by the users. This setting is applicable for newly generated recordings after April 12, 2020.

If your account already has the Only authenticated users can view cloud recordings activated, then the viewer will be asked to log in with both a CalNet ID and also with the recording password.

If you wish to turn off the password on cloud recordings, please be aware that this reduces the security of your cloud recordings.  We recommend you secure your cloud recordings:

  1. only seen by you
  2. shared with those who have a CalNet IDs
  3. require a recording password

You can manage your Zoom cloud recording settings by logging into Berkeley Zoom and on the left-nav choose Settings | Recordings.

Note: if your Zoom account has Only authenticated users can view cloud recordings activated, you can go into a specific cloud recording and turn that off and activate the password protection.  Then for this specific cloud recording, the viewer will not have to log in with a CalNet ID but will need to enter the password.
