How do I see my Rack Units in TelCat?

  1. If you are a Rack Unit customer and wish to see the Rack Unit information in TelCat, ask your TelCat Access Rights Administrator (ARA) to give you authorization.  You can find a list of your department’s ARAs here (CalNet login required)
  2. If you are an ARA and wish to give someone authorization to view Rack Unit information, select ‘read’ or ‘write’ authorization in the list of available authorizations, as appropriate.  See instructions here.

Once I have access, where do I find my information concerning my Rack Units?

  1. In the left navigation menu, in the "Manage My Dept's Services" section, click on "Rack Units."
  2. You will then see the screen as pictured below:

  3. On this screen beginning on the left, the first column is the Rack Unit name (AA03-00). This is the physical Rack Unit in the Data Center located in 321 Warren Hall. The second column is  "Occupied By"  which is your asset name, otherwise known as your (DC#), it is the key identifying number for a single piece of equipment you own and the quantity of Rack Unit space that equipment occupies in the Data Center. Further, the asset name (DC#) is  found on your BAIRS billing statement under the "Billed Charges Desc. 2" column. Third, the "Hardware Label" is the name given for the physical device that occupies that Rack Unit. 
  4. You will see only those Rack Units to which you have authorization.
