Costs

There are no additional costs for UC Berkeley Licensed account holders in need of HIPAA-Compliant Zoom.

How to Request

You may request a HIPAA-compliant Zoom account from the Telecom Catalog by submitting a service request. The HIPAA-Zoom account can be associated with either an individual Licensed Zoom account or a Special Purpose Account (SPA) which can be shared among many team members. If you do not have authorization in the Telecom Catalog system, enter an approver and leave the chart-string blank.

Things to know

  1. The feature differences between a Licensed Zoom account and a HIPAA-Compliant Zoom account are:
    1. Cannot record to the cloud
    2. Cannot copy chat messages
    3. Participants cannot join before the host
  2. Zoom Account proxies must be on the same Berkeley account, either both on the Licensed Zoom account or both on the HIPAA-compliant Zoom account.
  3. HIPAA sub-accounts are considered part of a separate Zoom instance, although they are now linked under the same organization so you can invite a HIPAA sub-account holder to serve as an "alternative host" to a UC Berkeley Zoom meeting, and vice-versa.
