A knowledge base article about Avaya Workplace: Can I get our Departmental lines to ring on Avaya Workplace VoIP? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
The Avaya Workplace VoIP system only allows one unique user ID per phone number and visa versa, and that User ID is a CalNet ID.
While multiple people cannot sign in on the same number, we can have a departmental number ring on multiple people's Avaya Workplace software. Each person must have a unique, qualifying number (a PBX digital line). They could all be given unique Avaya Workplace accounts, and each one of them could have your department's number bridged on their unique phone numbers. This would allow anyone to answer the line and dial out as that line.
Details can be found in the How to use Shared Lines and Multiple Lines with Avaya Workplace documentation.
There are some caveats. After reading the detail documentation above, please open an incident by sending email to telecom-avaya-workplace@berkeley.edu and include the departmental phone number in question. Reminder: Avaya Workplace does not work with ACD lines.
