Personal Calls

University of California, Berkeley employees may use departmental telephone services for incidental personal purposes, subject to the conditions

   for appropriate use contained in the University of California Electronic Communications Policy or other applicable laws or policies and provided

 that such use does not:

  1. directly or indirectly interfere with the Campus' operation of voice communications facilities or services;
  2. interfere with the user's employment or other obligations to the campus; or
  3. burden the campus with noticeable incremental costs. When noticeable incremental costs for personal use are incurred, employees shall follow departmental guidelines and procedures for reimbursement to the University.

Employees are encouraged to avoid noticeable incremental charges to the Campus for personal use of Campus voice facilities or services by employing other mechanisms to charge such costs to personal accounts.

Incoming Collect Calls

The campus operators are not permitted to accept incoming collect calls. They may, however, refer calls to specific departments whose responsibility it will be to decide whether or not to accept the collect calls.
