Access

Use Microsoft productivity software

Individuals can activate a Microsoft 365 Apps license to get access to Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 

Registered students do not need to request a license. 

Registered students, faculty, staff, and eligible affiliates.

Check your eligibility.

1. Activate Microsoft 365 Apps license using your @berkeley.edu address.

2. Install Microsoft 365 if not already installed (Desktop Instructions | Mobile Instructions)

Use project management tools

Faculty and staff can install Microsoft Project on Managed Computer Devices for project management, planning projects, assigning resources to tasks and tracking progress.

Faculty and staff with UC Berkeley Managed Computers running Windows. 

Install and download Microsoft Project via BigFix. 

Create diagrams and vector graphics 

Faculty and staff can install Microsoft Visio on Managed Computer Devices for creating flowcharts, process maps,  organizational structure diagrams, floor plans, engineering designs, and more.

Faculty and staff with UC Berkeley Managed Computers running Windows. 

Install and download Microsoft Project via BigFix. 

Use individual licenses on a shared computer

Unit/Department administrators can enable shared computer activation for individual use of Microsoft 365 Apps on shared computers in UC Berkeley labs, classrooms, and locations where computers are used by more than one person.

Note: Each individual must have their own Microsoft 365 license. 

Administrators

Enable shared computer activation during initial deployment using the Office Customization Tool.

Apply shared computer activation to existing installations via Group Policy or the Registry Editor.
