Lower and Raise a Projection Screen

A knowledge base article about Lower and Raise a Projection Screen provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal

There are two types of projection screens: electric and manual.

Electric screen:

Depending on the room layout the electric screen control can be in either of the following places: on the wall near the black/white board; on the instructor teaching station/bench; on the side of the Black Box.

Push the raise (usually UP) and lower (usually DOWN) buttons for your desired action.  The screen will automatically stop at the proper position.

Manual screen:

To lower the screen, grasp a hold of the attached cord and pull down and away from the wall in a fluid motion until the desired length plus another 3 ~ 4 inches.  Hold the screen for 2 seconds.  Slowly release the screen; the screen will retract about 1 ~ 3 inches and stop.

To raise the screen, firmly grasp the cord attached to the bottom of the screen and give it a smooth tug pulling the screen away from the wall then immediately start releasing it slowly.  The screen will begin to retract. Allow the retraction to occur while controlling the speed of the roll up by retaining grip on the cord.
