Available Recording Tools

You have several tools available through UC Berkeley to use while recording a video assignment. Please note that you may use other tools to record your videos and upload them to your My Media to turn in by following the instructions in How do I upload existing media files to My Media? You may also upload your video to YouTube and add the link to your My Media, see How do I add YouTube video links to My Media?

Express Capture

Express Capture is a tool within bCourses that can record webcam, microphone, and screen capture. Express Capture is most convenient for recording short and unedited videos, such as an introduction video. Please note that Express Capture does not work on iOS devices (iPhone and iPad).

Recording on an iPhone or iPad

Kaltura Capture

Kaltura Capture is a desktop recording application that can record any combination of webcam, microphone, and screencast input. Kaltura Capture also has annotation tools that work well for demonstrations and slideshow presentations. Videos recorded in Kaltura Capture can be easily uploaded to My Media and edited using the Kaltura video editor, making it a good tool for individual, high-stakes video assignments.

Zoom to Kaltura Integration

The Zoom to Kaltura Integration (once enabled by the user) automatically copies all UC Berkeley Zoom Cloud recordings to the user's My Media. To use it, all you have to do is create a Zoom meetings and record it to the Cloud. Webcam, microphone, screencast, and on-screen annotations from multiple users can all be recorded through Zoom, so it is good choice for recording group assignments.

Submitting a video assignment

By using one of the tools above or uploading, your video should now be in your My Media. You may now submit it using one of the following methods.

Your instructor may have provided you with specific instructions on submitting your assignment; make sure to follow the correct method.

Submitting your media using the Rich Content Editor
